Truth & accountability
Plain language. Sourced when we report. Corrections when we’re wrong. No rage-bait for its own sake.
Building in public · 2026
Truth over spin. Region over noise.
A small, independent media company for the American Southeast — here to tell the truth, look hard at corruption, and stand with people who’ve been hurt by it. Free to read on Substack. Optional paid support if you want to help it grow.
About
The Southeast Leaf is published by The Southeast Leaf, LLC, a Florida limited liability company. The company was first formed in 2016. After a period offline, it is active again in 2026 and building its public work now.
This is not a big newsroom, a newspaper chain, or a 501(c)(3) charity. It’s a lean, founder-led project. Early. Honest about that. Serious about the mission.
The writing lives on Substack (free to subscribe). Patreon is optional support for people who want to back the work financially. This website is the brand home that points you to both.
Straight talk
No fake scale. No nonprofit cosplay. No “trust us” fog.
Focus
These are the lanes we’re building toward — not a claim that every beat is fully staffed today.
Plain language. Sourced when we report. Corrections when we’re wrong. No rage-bait for its own sake.
Who benefits, who gets hurt, and what’s being papered over — especially where national media doesn’t look.
Regional stories, Florida roots, and the gap between national noise and local reality.
Space and seriousness for people affected by abuse of power, institutions, or systems that failed them.

If free reading is all you can do, that’s enough — share a post when something’s useful. If you can chip in, pick whichever platform you prefer. Neither is required.
Follow free. If paid tiers are offered on the page, they fund more writing time. What’s available is whatever you see live on Substack — we won’t invent perks here.
